Safeguarding & inclusion

A real workshop is a place of sharp tools and real machines. We take that seriously. Every school engagement comes with the documentation your procurement and safeguarding leads need — and an honest account of how we keep every student safe and included.

Our safeguarding commitment

NSPCC-certified safeguarding

Our team holds the NSPCC Certificate of Achievement in Safeguarding in Schools, Academies and Colleges — the UK’s leading child-protection standard.

For every session — at your school or at our Ras Al Khor workshop — we provide:

  • A written risk assessment specific to the activity and the age group
  • At least one supervising adult per 8 students — tighter around machines — with your teachers alongside our makers
  • First-aid-trained makers on site during every session, renewed regularly in line with UAE law
  • Age-appropriate tool selection and safety briefings
  • Dubai Police good-conduct clearance for our team, provided with every proposal
  • Public liability insurance, with a certificate provided to your school

Full documentation — staff clearance records, insurance certificates, first-aid cover and student-to-supervisor ratios — is included with every school proposal and available on request. We publish the commitments here and hand over the specifics with your proposal so the numbers are always current.

Inclusion & differentiation

Making is one of the most inclusive things a student can do — it rewards persistence and hand skill as much as academic ability, and it gives students who struggle at a desk a place to succeed. We plan for that deliberately.

  • We adapt projects and pace for mixed-ability and SEN students, working from the information your teachers share with us in advance.
  • We account for the sensory reality of a workshop — noise, dust, close supervision near machines — and can run quieter, smaller-group sessions where that helps.
  • We can provide additional one-to-one support where a student needs it, agreed with your school ahead of the session.
  • Your teachers know your students best; we plan every engagement with them, not around them.

We are honest about what we are and are not: we do not hold a formal SEN accreditation, and we will not claim one. What we offer is a genuine, adaptable workshop and staff who plan inclusion with your teachers, session by session.
